A beautiful, Celtic crescent moon pendant in sterling silver
Our beautiful, sinister- (or left-) facing crescent moon is hand cast in sterling silver. Delicate knot details give it a classic Celtic elegance. The pendant measures 1.125 inches across and comes with a sterling chain in 18, 20, 22 or 24 inches.
While not tied to a single deity in Scottish or Celtic mythology, the moon was an important part of Caledonian legends of the Great Mother. For example, two similar Celtic goddesses, Epona and Rhiannon, were thought to ride through the night skies on white mares. Selkies, coastal creatures who lived as seals by day, were rumored to shed their skins and become human to dance under the light of the full moon. Should a selkie lose her skin while human, she would be cursed to stay human forever.
