Our Celtic Bee Pendant features a stylized bee with intricate wings, hand-cast in sterling silver. The necklace pendant measures 1.125 inches across and comes with a sterling silver chain in 18, 20, 22 or 24 inches.

In Celtic folklore, honeybees possess a divine wisdom of life and death. As they travel between this world and the next, the bees would relay messages from the gods and the dead. In Scottish tradition, bees kept safe the powerful knowledge of the Druids. In fact, should a person fall into a trance, their soul would leave the body in the form of a honeybee.

Should a birth occur, the Celtic family should always report the happy news to the local bees to ensure the infant a long and healthy life. In the event of a death, informing the bees before the funeral would protect the family against additional misfortune. The messenger must also tie a black ribbon around a small stick of wood and place it in the hole at the top of the nearest hive.
