Our Celtic Claddagh Earrings feature the traditional Irish Claddagh, hand-cast in sterling silver. Each earring measures .8 inch tall and comes with a sterling silver hook.
A traditional Irish design, the Claddagh originates from the silversmithing community in the small fishing village of Claddagh in Galway. Although examples from the early 1700s exist, the design was not named as such until at least 1830. The classic Claddagh features three elements: two clasped hands (friendship), a heart (true love) and a crown (loyalty). Some designs omit the crown altogether. While Claddagh rings may represent a long and true friendship, they most often signify an engagement or wedding.
