One of our customers’ favorite designs, our elegant Celtic full moon hoop earrings are hand cast in sterling silver. Measuring just over 1 inch across, the earring come complete with sterling silver hooks.
While not tied to a single deity in Scottish or Celtic mythology, the moon was an important part of Caledonian legends of the Great Mother. For example, two similar Celtic goddesses, Epona and Rhiannon, were thought to ride through the night skies on white mares. Selkies, coastal creatures who lived as seals by day, were rumored to shed their skins and become human to dance under the light of the full moon. Should a selkie lose her skin while human, she would be cursed to stay human forever.
