A Druid Pentacle Pendant featuring a classic pentacle surrounded with Celtic ivy vines, hand-cast in sterling silver
Our Druid Pentacle Pendant features a classic pentacle surrounded with Celtic ivy vines, hand-cast in sterling silver. The necklace pendant measures 1.25 inches across and comes with a sterling silver chain in 18, 20, 22 or 24 inches.
The pentacle (also known as a pentalpha or pentagram) has a religious history that dates to the ancient Greeks and Babylonians. As early as the 6th century BCE, the pentacle represented wellbeing, good deeds and charity to others. About this time, Pherecydes of Syros completed The Pentemychos (“the five corners”), a cosmology that discussed the five corners of the Earth where the seeds of Chronos are placed, giving birth to the cosmos.
Four centuries later, the star of the pentagram represented Jerusalem, the five points marked by the five Hebrew letters spelling it’s the city’s name. Christians of the Middle Ages associated the five point with the five senses and the five wounds of Jesus.
In Celtic myth, the pentacle often represents Morrigan (or Morgan), a Goddess of the Underworld. The great Mother Goddess of Gaelic folklore also claim the pentacle as a symbol of feminine power and fertility.
