Our vintage Hammer Throw Pewter Athlete Pin makes the perfect gift for the Scottish athlete in your life. Hand cast in Inverness in 1998 by a traditional pewtersmith, the figure is part of a large collection of original vintage pins we were lucky enough to secure. Now 25 years old, this fantastic piece has exceptional detail due to the level of craftsmanship used. We have a very limited number of the pins, and once they sell out, they are gone forever. The pin measures 1.75 inches tall and comes with a metal pinback for secure display. A County Argyle exclusive!

Please note that the extended ball and hammer are hand cast pewter. They will last a lifetime, but care should be taken not to bend the metal extension during use.

The Hammer Throw

A staple of Highland Games around the world, the Scottish Hammer is a round metal ball weighing either 16 or 22 pounds, fastened to the end of a wooden handle. Athletes wind the hammer around their heads without spinning their bodies. Long blades fixed to the bottom of their boots prevent them slipping. The best athletes can toss the heavier hammer more than 100 feet.
