Our vintage Pewter Caber Toss Pin makes the perfect gift for the Scottish athlete in your life. Hand cast in Inverness in 1998 by a traditional pewtersmith, the figure is part of a large collection of original vintage pins we were lucky enough to secure. Now 25 years old, this fantastic piece has exceptional detail due to the level of craftsmanship used. We have a very limited number of the pins, and once they sell out, they are gone forever. This massive pin measures 3.5 inches tall and comes with a metal pinback for secure display. A County Argyle exclusive!
The signature event of Highland Games around the world, the Caber Toss features a hand-hewn log of approximately 20 feet, weighing around 150 pounds. Athletes begin by holding the caber upright in two cupped hands. The competitor runs, stops and attempts to flip the caber end over end. Officials record the score as though on an imaginary clock face. A score of 11:45, for example, indicates the caber was almost flipped. A 12:00 scoring means a perfect score with the caber tipping end over end.
