The Scottish tartan Tam ‘O Shanter (or tam or tammie) is a historic piece of Caledonian headwear traditionally worn by men. The tam is a flat bonnet (much like a beret), originally made of hand-knitted wool that has been stretched on a wooden disc to give the distinctive shape. Originally made in a deep blue color, the earliest tams date from the 1500s in Scotland. It takes its name from Tam o’ Shanter, the eponymous hero of the 1790 Robert Burns poem.
Due to the nature of the soft cotton material, shirt measurements may vary up to one inch.
Material: 100% combed and ring-spun cotton, pre-shrunk for accurate fitting
