A staple of Highland Games around the world, the Scottish Weight for Height challenges athletes to toss a 56-pound weight over an overhead cross bar. The athlete uses a single hand and must throw from a standing position. Three tries are allowed. The bar height rises each round until only a single athlete remains. The best athletes can toss the weight more than 18 feet in the air.
